You'd think I'd dropped off the edge of the world!

What happens when your part-time arts/crafts hobby turns into a successful business enterprise? You find yourself working two jobs and burning the candle at both ends.

Once my little seeded cards hit the front page of etsy, I started selling something every day and sometimes, several things a day. I was contacted to complete a couple of custom orders, too. Needless to say, I have been busy!

The most fun of the projects was to create plantable business sized cards for audience members attending a kid's production of the Dr. Seuss story, The Lorax, for Earth Day. The cards are 100% recycled paper and have wildflower seeds embedded in them. The idea is to recycle the card by planting it to grow poppies, daisies, bachelor buttons and more. They say "A seed is all you need" on the front and have planting instructions on the back.

I like how they turned out so much that I decided to offer them to others with the option to customize them, see here. I think I'll have to start tucking them in with my outgoing orders too.

I should be able to squirrel away some time to write about something more interesting soon my sudden success will fizzle out or I'll figure out a way to work more efficiently!

That is most excellent! I LOVE the Lorax, and that's such a great idea!! Spreading the seed of Eco-awareness to young children is the best way to go about it! Congrats on your booming success! :)

Glad to hear the cards are flying out the door! I need to check with my Mom about the cards I convo'ed you about.

I used "alchemy" for the first time last week, it worked really well! If you haven't yet, you should check it out! Check out my blog to see what I ended up with!

You also hit the boingboing.net yesterday - http://www.boingboing.net/2008/04/10/plantable-greetingca.html

I visited your Etsy shop (long time Etsy suypporter!) and saw you were out of plantable cards. You'll have more soon, I hope?
